25 June 1852 – 10 June 1926)
was a Catalan architect who worked during the Modernism (Art Nouveau) period but became famous for his unique and highly individualistic designs regarded as beyond the scope of Modernism.
If one were forced to define Casa Batllo, one would have to describe it as an architectural smile, an outburst of the compositional pleasure of someone in full command of his own individual style that enabled him to escaper any imitation or school, either in his own day or subsequently.
Sagrada Familia
is a Roman Catholic cathedral still under construction in Barcelona. Work on the cathedral started in 1882 and Gaudi himself worked on it for 40 years, 15 of which he dedicated exclusively to it, until his death in 1926. When asked about the deadline of his project, now scheduled to 2026, Gaudi said "My client is not in a hurry."
Antoni Gaudi is my all time favourite Architect.
He was amazingly imaginative.
His ideas were so different from anything out there that it is almost as if he were from
another world.
Thanks for sharing the pictures of this famous creator, Antonio Gaudi..
