Spotlight on STEAMPUNK.

STEAMPUNK is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s.[1] Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may have envisioned them; in other words, based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, art, etc

I am fascinated by the aesthetics of this idea of Steampunk...
The people out there creating this stuff are amazingly creative.  They are making everything from computers to jewellery using materials that fit in with this very industrial, victorian idea.

I especially love the jewellery...

There is even Steampunk Art!
I love it!

The intricacies of these pieces are truly stunning!
The ideals may not be up everyones ally but you have to appreciate the craftsmanship...I personally am loving this whole trend :)

I want to sleep in a forest.

When I can I am definitely going to invest in an amazing bed that makes me feel like I'm already dreaming before I even fall asleep.....

If I had any one of these I don't know if I'd ever leave my bed.... It's hard enough as it is ;)

A New Blog is born!!!

Hello All...

I have created this blog so that I can share the weird and wonderful things that inspire me on a daily basis.  As an artist I love to create things and I am particularly interested in finding hidden gems.... Things that most consider junk or garbage but that can be given a new life with just a little time and creativity.  I feel like this is a good habit to get into to so that we can all get a little farther away from mass production and mass destruction.  Many trends come around full circle.  Instead of throwing away these things that belonged to the generations before us, lets keep them around and bring them into ours.  I know there others out there who share a longing for things that conjure feelings of nostalgia or invoke a sense on whimsy.

Check out WHISPERED WHIMSY VINTAGE on etsy.
