I've got a bad case of spring fever!

Ok... so as of late I have been feeling so much anxiety its ridiculous!
I am done with winter.

BRING ON SPRING!

I am feeling more motivated lately, but I seem to keep getting bogged down by old man winter refusing to leave.

I can't really complain that much I guess, as the weather has been pretty nice and sunny lately...

BUT

I think it's this very same sunshine that is making me long for warmer, longer days.

Something made me stumble onto
while I was trying to be productive on my computer today
(I'm creating a portfolio website, FINALLY).

and this little "browsing" distraction has made me long for spring and summer even more :(

They have soooo many cute dressed right now!
(It's also making me long for a time when I had more disposable income ;)

Here are a few that I am currently admiring...

Aaaaah pretty spring dresses....
if only I could afford to buy you all right now...
then I would wear you each on any given day whilst frolicking in the hot sunshine...

if only...

Yellena James... Organic Surrealism

So, I stumbled across

art a little while ago and I've decided that I'd like to share it with the world.

Her drawings are absolutely stunning.

I think I had searched for botanical drawings on etsy in search for some inspiration for a potential tattoo idea and somehow came across her prints!

They are certainly not botanical drawings in the traditional sense... but there is definitely something oddly organic about them.

Though they are quite surreal, they have a cellular feel that is quite appealing.

They somehow manage to be bright and vibrant...

yet light and transparent at the time...

Simply heavenly :)

She also has a number of gorgeous paintings...

Here is her bio from her Etsy store:

I'm an artist/illustrator residing in beautiful Portland, OR.
My work has been described as "colorful arrangements of organic shapes and tangled lines (which) are at once floral and alien, organic and sci-fi, crafty and fantastic." Within each piece I try to create an intimate world that posesses its own ethos and its own emotional range. Besides showing my artwork in galleries around the globe, I have done illustration work for Anthropologie, K2 Snowboards, Nike and many others. My work has also appeared in Vogue Australia, Giant Robot, Domino Online, Design Sponge, Apartment Therapy and many other art and design resources and publications.

You can also read a quick interview with her here.

I'm crazy about her style and I'd love to purchase some of her prints for our new home....

Maybe for a nursery some day...

In the future of course ;)

We're Home!!!!!

So, clearly it has been faaaar too long since I last posted....
But it's been pretty crazy in my life lately!

I unfortunately don't have the pics or the time to make this a post of any substance
BUT

I felt as though I have been neglecting
WHISPERED WHIMSY lately....
(because I have)

So I needed to get something up here, even if it is short.

I had been writing many posts in anticipation of new house that was being built and now its finally done and we're in!

It has been exhausting since I have been sick throughout most of it, but I am finally feeling a little better and like I can relax
(a little).

I am aware that this is not the greatest quality photo in the world... it was just one that I took with my crappier camera before we had friends over for a Christmas Potluck.
BUT

I figured I would post it, regardless! :)

It is of our Christmas Tree!!!!
Our first real one :)

Mike picked it out.  He did a great job.
It is the most perfect real tree I have ever seen.
(I may be a but biased though ;)

So you get to see a snippet of our living room too... which is coming along nicely I must say!

Once I feel as though it is more camera ready,
I will post more pics...

With my good camera this time ;)

Pictures that make me smile. Part 9 (Halloween Edition)

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

My Dream Anthropologie Bedroom...

SO, I'm a bit of a dork.
Since we are so close to moving into our house (6 weeks now), I am completely consumed by thoughts of decor.

BUT

Unfortunately we are clearly first time home-buyers working on a budget.
So pretty much everything from Anthropologie is out of reach for us.

BUT

Since I AM a dork.  I have put together my dream Anthropologie bedroom...

I am totally in love with idea of "tree bed"
(hence one of first posts "I want to sleep in a forest.")

I had found a pretty fantastic one online a while ago, but it was $15 000...

This (above) bed from Anthropologie is slightly more reasonable at $5298.
Its still too expensive for us to buy now... but maybe some day :)

To adorn my imaginary tree bed, I would buy this amazing duvet set.

The ruffles...
The soft grey...
The fluffy flowers...

I don't think I would ever get out of bed.

Now, for the walls.

I love this "woods" wallpaper by Cole & Son.

Since it's a little out of reach for us, I plan on putting my artistic abilities to good use by painting one wall with a mural version of this design.
We're planning on painting our bedroom a warm grey colour.  Three of the walls will be a medium shade, with one accent wall in a darker shade.
This will be the wall that our headboard is against, and I will paint the trees with the lighter shade that was used on the other three walls.

I was inspired by this room.

(I'd also like to do something like this in the ensuite)

Of course I found this awesome Tea Time inspired lamp that I just HAD to include...

Topped with this pretty lampshade.

Lets throw in this chair too.... just for good measure.

Now I know that I had said that I would post pictures of my new hair soon...
BUT
I haven't had a lot of time recently to take some "proper" pictures...

I'm am going to make my best effort to shoot some today but since I know that some of you are super curious to see how it turned out, I took a few super low-quality "silly-faced" ones with my iphone...

post bleaching and toning but pre-purple

It didn't turn out EXACTLY how I had planned, but I still like it :)
The purple is a little darker and a lot pinker than I had intended.

Better pics to come :)

Pictures that make me smile. Part 8 (Paris Edition)

An artist has no home in Europe except in Paris.

(all pics from pinterest)

So... it's been a little over a year since my husband and I visited Paris and I need to go back.

In fact, I am trying to figure out if it is feasible to live there short term sometime within the next year and a half...

We just bought a house so you may be thinking... bad timing...

BUT

I don't think so.
You see, a house can be rented out.
Even sold if need be (though it wouldn't).
The reason it would need to happen within the next year and a half is that the only thing that would likely keep my husband and I from taking on an adventure such as this would be having a baby....which we'd like to do in the nearish future.

Anyways... this is my short Paris rant.

Pics of my new hair soon to come ;)
