Gorblimey - Socar's World of Weird.

I came across a very intriguing and talented 

pen & ink Artist the other day.

Her name is Socar Myles.

 Her drawings are amazingly creative and detailed 

but I particularly like the descriptions she provides on her 

website for each drawing.

Some are dark and insightful,

but a lot of them are quite humorous!

I love that she doesn't take herself to seriously.

Description: "This drawing was done for my boss, so I used a quotation from The Office, for the title. Fortunately, my boss is not David Brent."

Horace Spiegelman Gets Made Redundant (page 1), 2010

Description: "'Horace Spiegelman Gets Made Redundant' is a collaborative illustration book I did with the excellent Agnes. This book has full colour front & back covers, and greyscale interiors. It tells the story of Horace Spiegelman, an office drone who wakes up one morning, and finds himself in two places at once. The story is told in double-page spreads, with Agnes's art on the left, and mine on the right; each of us has illustrated the unfortunate fate of one of the Horace Spiegelmans."

This last one reminds me of The Secret of NIMH, 

a movie that I used to watch as a kid.

Enchanted Wedding Inspiration.

SO as it goes, my posts seem to be a

 continuation of each other lately.

When searching for beautiful Vera Wang dresses I came across 

this wedding inspiration board based around one of the Vera Wang dresses that I featured in the previous post.

When I was searching for ideas for my own wedding decor, I was very inspired by the enchanted forest theme.

I didn't take it to the extreme or anything BUT there was a definite subtle theme.

My colours were light grassy greens and dark tealy blues much like the next picture.

The venue for the Ceremony was outdoors agains a
 wooded backdrop.

The Reception was inside of a gorgeous
Log Cabin like building.

The centrepieces were willow branches and orchids with
little fairy lights and butterflies.

Vera Wang.

SO, my last post on FAIRY INSPIRED DRESSES 

included this picture of three Vera Wang wedding dresses.

So, of course, I was inspired to dedicate a full post to 

Vera Wang's sublime bridal creations.

BIO:  A native New Yorker who spent her career at the forefront of fashion, Vera Wang began a sweeping makeover of the bridal industry in 1990 with the opening of her flagship salon at the Carlyle Hotel in New York City.  Today, the salon continues  to showcase collections known for sophisticated drama, feminine detailing and a modern approach to bridal design.

If I had had the money to buy a Vera Wang wedding dress for my recent wedding, 

I would have. 

 If I  had the guts to pull off one of the 

beautifully colourful ones,

 I would have.

 BUT if I were going for something slightly more classic, I would have picked a dress like Chelsea Clinton did.

This Alexander McQueen dress is just amazing. 

The fact that he is no longer a part of this world is such a tragedy.

He was such an amazing talent, and happened to be 

my favourite designer ( I know...shocker).

I will be putting together a post on his breath-taking fashion very soon.

Happy 2011!

Another year, another chance for new beginnings.  

I am not much a resolution maker myself, but I do believe in reflecting on the year that has passed in order to sort out what kind of year you want the next to be.

For me, 2010 was a very eventful one.  

It was the first year that I was not in school at all since before Kindergarden.

I bought a new car.

I got married!

I went to Europe for the first time.

AND my (now) husband and I moved into my parents 

basement in order to save for a down-payment on a house.

It's been a roller coaster ride for sure.  

Lots of different emotions.

Lots of memories.

and Lots of changes.

SOOOOO...

for 2011 I hope to:

Buy a house or condo.

Start my own business.

Put together a new series to be displayed in at least one gallery.

AND finally find time to volunteer.

I know, if these are all accomplished, 

I'm in for another major year of changes.  

But I'm ready for it.  

I readily welcome the changes and all the challenges that will come with it.

So here's to 2011.  A year for even more chaos.
